    Sad. My sincere condolences. :-(
I remember the GAP-BBS website. It was great.
You still have backup of the GAP installation. In the future, I'll
test the GAP with ECHODOOR that you mentioned.

Yes, I have it all. You will have to install 6.6 first, then update to
6.7 99 node. Just yell when you are ready, or log into my sbbs system
by telnet, and choose 2 for GAPm all the files are there, or on my
    website also

I downloaded all. Thanks, Desotofireflite. :-))

SBBS is my main system, and I'm very happy with it, but the old me
prefers my GAP and RA, as thats what I cut my teeth with in the old
days. I'm just glad people like Mike made the program Netfoss and
net2bbs, so they can still be enjoyed still today.

One neat thing about the dial-up '90s was the diversity of the BBS scene. In our local network, I ran Maximus, another board ran Telegard, the main hub
was RA, another board ran Spitfire and yet another ran Searchlight.

My local underground boards ran GAP and Forum, and I had 2 WWIV boards I called.

All I meant, was he was planning on taking out the comm routines, and
putting in telnet so it didn't rely on telnet front ends.

Ah, so he was porting (from MS-DOS) to a modern OS or had he already done that part? --

He was in the process of switching everything to windows, which is done, and the next step was working on the telnet part of it, and removing the comm routines, which was in the very early stages. Version 6.7 is compiled for windows 10 in mind, and is stable, but he never got to complete the next step before he passed. I hope that answered your question.

I don't remember seeing Spitfire or WWIV in my area, but there was the Telegard board I ran (and am again), the "big" BBS in my area ran PCBoard and there was a smaller spattering of RemoteAccess or Maximus boards around.

Just before I shut my board down before I moved there was a fellow who put up a new board running Iniquity which I thought was neat looking.

Yup. Did he open source it? It'd be nice if he lived on through his program.

No, as I understand, he was very protective of the software, and did not wish to release the source. I respect his wishes, and only discussed it once with relitives, and the answer was the same.

That's true. The main software I remember around the central Arkansas
area ranged from GT Power to Wildcat, to Spitfire, to Renegade, to Opus,
among many others. I have a bulletin online of the BBS's that are "Gone
But Not Forgotten" in Arkansas...most from the central part of the state.

This is so true. In fact I rebuilt my 1990s Spitfire BBS and its running on the same system as my sync bbs @ http://x-bit.org:2323. I even found a bulletin date bug, opened a ticket w/ Mike Woltz and he fixed it w/ some new code for me :)
