AI is now just another one of those tools. It's the new normal, at least for professional programming.

More's the pity. There's a couple episodes of This Week Tonight (YT) you should watch: AI Slop and AI Chatbots. You may not be so gung-ho about LLMs afterwards.

Who's gung-ho? I'm impressed, but also concerned. I also know that I and every other professional developer/programmer in the big firms where I work and have worked are using generative AI dev tools in the work place. Every day, all day long. I'll watch your YT vid, but it's not going to change reality.

I already saw the AI Chatbot one and waching the AI Slop espideo now (all about multi-modal AI generated social media content). John Oliver is great. But that has nothing to do with generative AI programming tools like Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex that *I'm* talking.

I like Claude Code. I have also tried Opencode some. It is not bad but, if I have a more difficult question, I always run it by Claude as Opencode will sometimes seem to get stuck in a loop on those and wind up somewhere I wasn't asking about. ;)

From what I have read, professionals are using it. Some are using it because they feel like they have to if they want to stay employed. There is a big push to use it, and I suspect that push is coming from people who don't understand it but also don't want to be left behind... that and people who think they can use it to get rid of people.
