Waning Moon passes Gemini's Twins (pre-dawn)
Early risers on Thursday morning, September 26, can see the pretty sight of
the waning crescent moon shining south of Gemini's brightest stars Pollux and Castor. The moon will be close enough to the lower star, warm-tinted Pollux, for them to share the field of view of binoculars and backyard telescopes. Reddish Mars will be shining off to the moon's west. With each passing hour, the moon will shift noticeably right to left (or eastward) below Pollux.
