you can do a lot with lord.
I think the thing that's missing at present is what a good LORD setup with only good IGMs looks like. It reminds me of that scene in Borat where he's at the supermarket with all the different kinds of cheese...that's the world of LORD IGMs. So many of them are shit, and so many of them break core game mechanics. I'd love to find an installation of LORD that expands on the core game mechanics in the most fun and fair ways to keep the game interesting without going too far. Yet I haven't really seen that :/ But if something like that existed in, say, a doorgame server, with maybe the mzk addon, it would be an awesome game that people would likely play very competitively in.

BBSes these days than there used to be.
Yeah - I was specifically referring to why LORD is not full of players
like in the old days... Cause the BBS is not full of users. :-)
also before this big loss of users sysops thought it was a great idea
to install hundreds of doorgames. that's absolutely not how you help
user interaction. seth himself said how to get user interaction in the docs.
sysops thought making things complicated was a good idea.

Pretty sure I found a way to game LORD. Not sure if its a bug or not. I think I could probably be number 1 forever now but theres only like 3 players. Why don't people play this anymore?
I blame people not having local BBS's to log in to and we don't
'know our neighbors' anymore...
... Where quality is just a word we like to use.I see a lot of guys playing it on the BBS I use. I have been playing it for 30 years now. Love me some LORD.

That and every BBS has exactly the same games on their boards. No matte where you go, Bran the Warrior WILL get ya!
I don't really see the issue with some door games being common on many BBSes I think that could actually be a good thing - That means if a user runs out turns in the game or runs out of time on one BBS, it doesn't mean they have wait until the next day to play it again. The user could go play the game o another BBS that has that game installed.

I play L.O.R.D. on 3 different BBS's. I have do this for many years and reall enjoy it.

I have several door games installed here, but the only three that seem to draw any players are LORD, Yankee Trader, and OOII.
I know there are a lot of AI naysayers out there, but just try it before you dismiss it. Its not a hokie toy, its a serious tool that may take the BBS sce to the next level. Even though the bots love to play games too, they are equally adept at discussing and teaching quantum mechanics, writing source co or helping you set up your BBS. So, if you take a little time to put Quantasi through her paces, I think you'll be converted to the dark side. But seriousl all kidding aside, its a pretty cool experience and is configurable to the point where it will be unique on each BBS.

The system I run my door games on -- this one -- is a DOS BBS with c1994
BBS software. Not sure it'd work here. ;)

I forgot to mention in my previous reply that if you want to check the AI Ch Bot door out, telnet to firesidebbs.com:23231, select (X)Doors at the Main Me and then select Quantasia Chat Assistant on the next menu.
I think its pretty awesome.

Thanks. I still need to check out that weather door in action
sometime, too.
