I lived in Oakland, CA in the late '90s and early 2000s. Loved going to
Raiders games, and especially loved when they played the Seahawks - the Seahawks were in the AFC back then and were a west-coast rival of the
Raiders. Because of the proxmity, there were a lot of Seahawks fans in
the stadium, and it made for "lively" interchanges.
I recall seeing two guys in silver and black body paint and fright wigs
going to groups of Seahawks fans, yelling "YOUR TEAM SUCKS, SEAHAWKS
SUCK!!!", then completely changing tone, telling them to enjoy the game
and thanks for coming. Then, move onto the next group, repeating the
ritual.
Two guys a couple of rows below me had blue and silver fright wigs, they
told them their team sucked, complimented their getup and shook their
hands.
Simpler times.
Broncos games were a much different vibe. Broncos fans would throw ice
balls onto the field at Mile-High stadium, Raiders fans would throw
batteries at the Coliseum. Things tended to go sideways, especially
afterwards when the Raiders lost.
