A Royal Air Maroc flight from Casablanca to Istanbul was canceled at the last minute last Sunday. Passengers were already on board the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, registration CN-RGU, and subsequently refused to disembark.
The flight was flight AT910, scheduled to depart at 10:05 AM local time. After all passengers had boarded, the pilots announced that the flight would not go ahead.
"The cancellation was caused by a technical inspection combined with unfavorable weather conditions in Istanbul," a source close to Royal Air Maroc said.
The sudden cancellation caused confusion and frustration among passengers. They remained on the plane out of protest, despite it being clear the flight would not depart. Ultimately, the passengers were accommodated in hotels. The next day, the same Boeing 787 operated the flight to Istanbul.
