You're correct, the game is run only as a pay-to-play service (not for
sale). One server is still licensed with a copy of the game, but I don't
think they're running it at present.
Browser-based games work far better as either an exclusive service, or as something freeware/open-source. Selling Lunatix licenses had a long string
of problems. The unfortunate thing with BBS-games-turned-web-games is that
the people doing it aren't getting permission. But that's another discussion entirely. :)

changed back...they had some problems with some licensee of the pkg
but if i'm wrong what do they charge for it these days?

To answer his question, almost no doors have been ported, but a few have
been
cloned:
- Legend of the Green Dragon is a LORD clone in php, open source
- Black Nova Traders, Nova Gaming System, and similar offshoots are
clones
of
TW2002 in php, open source
All of the above seem FAR inferior to the original doors, though.
There's also an HTML version of Lunatix, written in Perl, but it's a pay-to-play system. You can host your own Lunatix server but its a bit
pricey
(and understandably so, since it seems like it would easily pay for
itself
after a couple months of being on-line).
