Win32 executables ("programs") work as they always have in WIn10.
Apps on the other hand, don't integrate into the environment
at all, in any meaningful way. They're pathetic.
The EXE for an App, is EXE only in name. The code segment
has a short length. Double-clicking the EXE causes the screen
to flash, when a shell starts and instantly closes. The EXE
is really a container for a manifest (some text at the end of
the file), and is not meant to be launched like that. The loader
is too stupid to acknowledge you tried to start an App. It would
have been a natural thing, for the EXE to have launched the App,
but nooo...
In Start:Run, try

In any case, that last item is about as close as you'll get,
to an iconic view of any sort. The integration is terrible really.

I didn't test all of those. Try them out for yourself
and see if you can get one of those to work.
