BURTONSVILLE, Md. u A Montgomery County woman is being charged
after the fentanyl-related death of a D.C. man, the Montgomery
County Department of Police said Tuesday.

Court documents say Sarah Magid was working at Charles Drew
Elementary while allegedly trafficking various types of
narcotics, including fentanyl, for months.

The documents also talk about an anonymous tip police received
that claimed Magid had been buying and selling fentanyl and
Xanax pills for at least four years, sometimes even leaving her
classroom to sell the drugs outside the school building.

Montgomery County Police said the woman's arrest stems from the
death of a man in March from Washington, D.C. An autopsy
revealed that his cause of death was fentanyl toxicity.

After his death, investigators said they uncovered information
that the victim had been in Montgomery County in the days
leading up to his death. They also discovered text conversations
going back to January between the victim and Magid about drug
transactions.

After putting Magid under surveillance in June, authorities
moved in on Monday, searching Magid's Burtonsville home and
taking her into custody without incident.

The police department said Magid is a first-grade teacher for
Montgomery County Public Schools and has worked for the district
since 2022. Police have not said that any children were involved.

So far, Magid faces multiple charges for narcotics distribution
but has not been charged with the victimAs death.

She is currently being held without bond, and a preliminary
hearing is scheduled for September 13. Montgomery County Public
Schools says the district is aware of Magid's arrest and has
placed her on leave as she awaits trial.
